FAQ

Clear answers about submissions, distribution, account access, and working with FilmMerge.

01

Submissions and eligibility

What kinds of productions can be submitted?
FilmMerge considers feature films, documentaries, short films, and episodic work that align with its Christian and family-friendly focus. Every title is assessed individually for content fit, rights readiness, audience potential, and delivery quality.
Does a production need to be feature length?
No. Runtime alone does not determine eligibility. The production should be complete or meaningfully reviewable, professionally presented, and suitable for the audiences and pathways FilmMerge serves.
Can a film be submitted before every delivery asset is final?
Yes, provided the title is reviewable and the submission clearly identifies what is complete, what is still in progress, and when remaining materials are expected. Final requirements are confirmed if the title progresses.
Can international filmmakers submit?
Yes. FilmMerge can review productions from different territories, subject to content fit, rights clarity, available materials, applicable laws, and the practical requirements of the proposed distribution or licensing route.
02

Review and filmmaker onboarding

How long does the initial review take?
The published review target is approximately 15-30 business days after the required submission information has been received. Complex rights, technical, or content questions may require additional review.
What happens after a film is accepted for the next stage?
FilmMerge confirms the next checkpoint, which may include clarification, agreement review, rights documentation, account onboarding, technical preparation, or a title-specific delivery checklist. Acceptance for review is not the same as guaranteed placement.
When is filmmaker portal access provided?
Portal access is tied to an approved onboarding relationship and the responsibilities assigned to the filmmaker contact. FilmMerge provides the appropriate access instructions when the account is ready.
Can more than one person from a production team be involved?
Where appropriate, FilmMerge can work with authorised production contacts. Each contact’s responsibility and communication authority should be clear so confidential records and title decisions remain properly managed.
03

Rights, agreements, and placement

Do filmmakers retain ownership of their films?
Film ownership is not transferred merely by submitting a title. Any distribution rights, territories, windows, terms, responsibilities, and permitted uses are defined in the applicable agreement before activity begins.
Where can accepted films be placed?
FilmMerge works across a network presented publicly as 20+ platforms and industry channels. Actual placement depends on title fit, rights, territory, technical readiness, buyer demand, and the terms agreed for that production.
Is acceptance the same as guaranteed placement?
No. Review, onboarding, licensing, technical delivery, and platform or buyer acceptance are distinct stages. FilmMerge communicates the applicable status and next action as a title moves through the process.
Can existing licensing commitments affect a submission?
Yes. Existing exclusivity, territory, window, broadcaster, distributor, music, talent, or platform commitments can affect what FilmMerge is able to pursue. They should be disclosed accurately during review.
04

Delivery, metadata, and technical readiness

What technical materials may be required?
Requirements can include a high-quality master, trailer, artwork, captions or subtitles, metadata, rights documentation, audio information, and destination-specific delivery materials. The exact specification is confirmed for the relevant route.
Why are metadata and artwork important?
Accurate metadata and strong approved artwork help buyers and platforms understand, classify, review, market, and display a title correctly. Missing or inconsistent materials can delay review or delivery.
Are captions or subtitles always required?
Requirements vary by destination, territory, audience, and agreement. English captions or subtitle files are often important for accessibility and international readiness, and additional languages may expand opportunities.
What if a film does not yet meet a destination’s technical specification?
FilmMerge will identify the relevant issue where possible and confirm whether correction, replacement, conversion, or additional material is required before that delivery can proceed.
05

Buyer access, licensing, and screeners

How do buyers access the private catalogue?
Buyer access is controlled. A buyer requests access, provides organisation and use-case information, completes the required verification, and receives role-appropriate credentials when approved.
Can an unverified visitor watch protected screeners?
No. Protected viewing is provided only through the authorised route and for the permitted purpose. Access may depend on buyer verification, title availability, rights context, and FilmMerge approval.
Can buyers request several titles or a catalogue package?
Yes. Buyers can describe their platform, territory, audience, rights needs, and catalogue interests so FilmMerge can coordinate an appropriate licensing conversation.
Does public catalogue visibility mean a title is available in every territory?
No. Public visibility is not a universal rights statement. Availability can differ by territory, window, format, exclusivity, buyer type, and current contractual position.
06

Accounts, security, records, and support

Which login page should I use?
Filmmakers and approved buyers should use Portal Access to choose the correct sign-in page. Use only official FilmMerge pages and the account-recovery instructions shown on the relevant login page.
Where are title activity and financial records shown?
Available title, placement, statement, and account information is shown inside the relevant secure account and is governed by the applicable agreement. General website guidance does not replace contractual or account-specific records.
What should I do if I cannot access my account?
Use the relevant password or access-recovery route shown on the official login page. If the issue remains, contact FilmMerge without sending your password, verification code, or other confidential credentials.
How can I ask a question not covered here?
Use the Help Centre or FilmMerge contact page and select the context that best matches your enquiry. Account-specific or confidential matters should be raised through the authorised private channel.
